Our Mission

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Part of the pleasure of belonging to LWVH is participating as a group in community activities.

The Hamptons, Shelter Island and the North Fork

 The East End of Long Island, which is iin New York's Suffolk County, includes the Towns of Southampton and East Hampton on the South Fork, Shelter Island and the Town of Southold on the North Fork.  We are about 100 miles east of New York City on Long Island. 

The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island and the North Fork (LWVHSINF) is a member of the Inter-League Organization (ILO) of Suffolk County and of the League of Women Voters of New York State. We are a 501(C)4 organization. The League of Women Voters of New York State's Education Fund is a 501(C)3 charitable organization..

Participation on a committee is strictly voluntary.  Our committees an opportunity for you to get involved in the issues you're already interested in or explore a new interest -- from the environment to helping people register and vote to influencing health issues on the East End.  League members enjoy the satisfaction of knowing their hands-on efforts help improve our quality of life and further democracy in action.
